The city of Los Angeles, also known as L.A. or the ‘City of Angels’ is the largest city in the American state of California. The metropolitan area of L.A. contains a population of over 17 million people, a diverse group that speaks over 100 different languages. The city is an important center of business, media, culture and international trade for the United States. It has the largest port in the United States, but is best known for being the heart of the world’s entertainment industry.

Downtown L.A. is the central business district and home to many trendy hotels, bars and restaurants. It really has something for everyone. The highlights of Downtown include the Disney Concert Hall, the Grand Central Market and the City Hall. The best museums to visit in Downtown are the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Japanese-American Museum, both very interesting. The two ethnic districts of Chinatown and Little Tokyo are also a pleasure to walk through. In Downtown you will find many unique and fine examples of international and American architecture. For example the Union Station, built in 1939 with a Spanish style exterior, and the Bradbury Building, a very remarkable building with a Victorian court inside. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is also worth mentioning, as this is a beautiful new cathedral that opened in 2002.

One street that you must visit during a visit to Los Angeles is Olvera Street, where L.A. was founded and where the oldest house in the city is located, the El Pueblo de Los Angeles. And what would a trip to L.A. be without a visit to Downtown Hollywood, this amazing part of the city is world famous and a must-see when you are in L.A. On Hollywood Boulevard you can find some of the greatest attractions of the city, such as the Walk of Fame, The Wax Museum, the Grauman’s Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Highland Plaza. It will definitely bring you all kinds of entertainment and great shopping opportunities as well. Don’t forget Sunset Boulevard and Melrose Avenue, two great streets in Hollywood where you can have a nice walk while spotting the celebrities and the many fantastic shops.
