Chicago is the third most populous city in the United States, the largest city of the state of Illinois. It is home to approximately more than 2.8 million people and widely regarded as the home of the blues and the heart of comedy in the United States. It has a great picturesque skyline, full of modern skyscrapers across the waters of the amazing Lake Michigan. Chicago is known as ‘The Windy City’ and ‘The city that works’. The ‘windy’ nickname derives from politics, as it is said that Chicago politicians change their minds ‘often as the wind’, but of course there's also a link with the winds often flowing over Lake Michigan right into the city. The city that works comes from the current Mayor Daley, referring to the labor tradition and the long hours Chicago residents work, as even many projects nowadays provide rapid urban modernization to Chicago.
The greatest attractions can be found in downtown Chicago, that consists of three areas: The Loop, Near North and Near South.
