Cairo, Egypt

Cairo is the capital of Egypt and also its largest city. It is the most popular city of Africa and of the Arab World's. The city is home to 6.7 million people and is located on the banks and islands of the Nile River in northern Egypt, directly south of the point where the river leaves its vally and breaks into two branches into the Nile Delta region.

An important landmark is the new Cairo Opera House, opened in 1988, seventeen years after the Royal Opera House tragically burnt down. The joint efforts of the Japan and Egypt have given rise to this extraordinary building which celebrates the rich and diverse culture of not only Egypt but also of other nations in Africa and the Middle East as well.

But the most famous landmark to visit when in Cairo are the Great Pyramids of Giza. This complex of historical ancient monuments is located 25 km southwest of Cairo’s city centre, in the inland desert from the old town of Giza on the Nile. The Great Pyramid of Giza are the only remaining monuments of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Visiting this world wonder really is a mesmerizing experience and what makes Cairo definitely worth a visit.
