Top 10 Surfing Spots in the World

We collected the top 10 surfing spots in the world.

1. Mundaka, Spain

This small, traditional Basque fishing village lies about 12 miles east of Bilbao. This location is regularly used for surfing competitions and is part of the ASP world tour. The big left hand break in Mundaka is considered to be the best left hand break in Europe. Just in case you were wondering, you do need a wetsuit when surfing here. Although the seawater in Spain is not that cold, you do require a wetsuit all year round. The best time to visit Mundaka is September/October but there are surfing possibilities throughout the year.

2. California, United States of America

The Golden State has a boatload of surfing locations, offering opportunities for the beginning as well as the seasoned surfer. For big wave fanatics there are Mavericks and Jaws during the winter swells. If you are not that into big waves but just want to enjoy a nice day of surfing, then you should choose a spot between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay. Other smaller places to surf in California are Steamer Lane, Malibu and Rincon. The water in California is pretty cold so do not forget your wetsuit. Many spots are crowded and filled with good surfers so show off your best moves!

3. Fuertaventura, Canary Islands (Spain)

This second largest Canary Island archipelago is a fantastic surf destination. The temperature here fluctuates between 64 and 75 degrees so you will rarely be cold.
